What are the different types of home health services?
Who are the health care professionals responsible?
All the aforementioned below have graduated with a bachelor's degree program from a medical school, earned a specialty certification, finished a diploma program, and have passed the licensure exam and we ensure that all our health care professionals are licensed.
Physician (MD or DO)
Although they may not be at the patient's home all the time, they are the ones who oversee patient care, conduct diagnosis, monitor patient's condition, and prescribe treatments and medications.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Responsible for the patient's condition as they perform medical assessments, monitor laboratory test results, administer treatments and medications, and provide education and consultation to the patient and family.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Under the supervision of an RN, they are accountable for administering medications, checking vital signs, providing wound care, collecting samples for testing such as urine and blood, and assisting with patient self-care activities.
Physical Therapist (PT)
They are the experts in strengthening and restoring the ability of the patient to be mobile and to prevent further injury. For some cases, they teach patients to use special equipment like walkers and canes, assist them with specific exercises to help regain mobility and strength, and provide treatments such as massage, heat, or cold to help improve patient circulation, lessen pain, avoid disability, and improve muscle and joint function.
Occupational Therapist (OT)
Helps patients in adapting to their disabilities so they may still function independently even with an injury. Some of the activities done by OTs are the following like how to use assistive and adaptive devices such as special forks, plates, long-handled shoe horns and sponges, and raised toilet seats.
Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Work with patients who have communication or swallowing disorders, they may be those who have experienced strokes or accidents, or those suffering from a neurological health problem. SLPs help to improve speech, to effectively communicate, and to safely swallow.
Medical Social Worker (MSW)
Working with the patient and their family, MSWs offer support services such as counseling, financial assistance, and community services. They also render emotional support to the family and advocates to help meet the patient's needs.
